So this is my superangst.  Now I will put this out now.  When I say HURT NO COMFORT. I mean hurt no comfort.  Seriously.  There are probably a whole lot of triggers in here.  Please read at your own discretion.

Title: One More Night

Rating: Uh high Jason with some NSFW thrown in due to death and murder; Hearts (I can’t rate things anymore help)

Excerpt:  But no.  Dick wouldn’t be Dick if he did.  He lives for throwing them off and then doing his best to move into the area that’s opened up for him.  It’s the way he’s still grinning at Tim that shows it.  It makes something in Tim’s chest tighten.  A few months ago, that grin would be strained.  Now it’s lighter.  Like it was before - before everything.

Tim can almost believe nothing has changed.

Why I like them: I like Tim Drake for a lot of reasons: mostly because he’s not as well defined by his creators.  This means he’s fluid.  He can relate to anyone if you look hard enough at him.  He’s nerdy, loud, quiet, stubborn, shy, jaded, goofy, broken, angry, scared, well-meaning, dedicated, and so much more.  He’s a myriad of things that make up a person and society as a whole.  He’s relatable to.  He’s not some hero.  He’s not some god that is put up on a pedestal to be worshipped - at least not to me.  He’s human and breakable but he keeps surviving, keeps moving on and living.  Even when he’s at his lowest.  Even when he has to do things he would have never done, things he doesn’t believe in or doesn’t like.  To me, Tim Drake is a person: one I can learn from and relate to.  One I can hurt beside while my life is falling through the cracks in my existence.  (He is also someone I cry over on a daily basis but that’s because I’m an emotional wreck.)

Why I don’t: It’s not really that I don’t like Tim, it’s that I don’t like how he’s handled.  When you create a character you can’t just go change things that make their base.  Everyone has base fundamentals that make up their personality and their character.  Because Tim is so fluid - normal some would say - taking those regular traits away from him and making him just one trait is destroying him in my opinion.  It’s not Tim Drake anymore.

Favourite episode (scene if movie): urg.  I’m going to go with the arc in Teen Titans where Kon finds out that his other dad is Lex.  Because Tim is such a good friend in that arc.

Favourite season/movie:  I can’t decide.  Seriously.  All of Tim’s runs are excellent to me - well except the Nu52 but that’s not Tim Drake to me.  Not the one I love anyways.  Anyways, I do love Tim in Young Justice a lot.

Favourite line:  ahahahahaha too many to cooount.  Here’s one that breaks my heart though:” I’m tired of being set up and led around without knowing who’s holding the other end of the leash! “  This one breaks me in an entirely different way: “I only serve one man. And he’s not here right now.”  Oh and this one: “I’m not Batman. I have friends.”  This one is slightly less painful but still painful: “Bruce, I want to be very sure you understand what I’m about to say, because I’m not saying it to be a jerk… You’ve given me a ton of opportunities and you’re an amazing role model. There are a lot of things about you that I aspire to. But I don’t know that I want to be you. Do you know what I’m saying?”  here’s one that’s amusing because all the other ones are heartbreaking and I’m gonna make myself cry: “When those women talk about Bruce, it’s like looking at Killer Croc.”

OTP: EveryoneTim.  I’m not even kidding.  I ship Tim with a lot of people and that again goes back to the whole fluid thing.  Because Tim goes through a lot of situations, he changes a lot; therefore, his relationships with people will change too.  So yes I’m going to ship BruTim and DamiTim and hell even TimTim.  Ra’sTim and SladeTim and TimSteph and CassTim and TimKon and okay maybe not JokerTim but you get what I’m saying.  (Though my first Tim ship was with Dick and that ship will always, always have a special place in my heart.  So I guess you can say DickTim is my first OTP for Tim Drake.)

Brotp: KonTimBartCassie.  CassTim.  BarbaraTim.  Hell even Ra’sTim - this one’s a twisted brotp but it’s still a brotp to me in some cases.  Like the otp it depends on the situation and all of the influences, etc.

Headcanon: I have a lot of headcanons about Tim Drake.  But I think one I haven’t shared is that sometimes Tim has a hard time distinguishing the lines between who the masks are that he puts on for the Mission and who Tim Drake is.  Some days - the bad ones where he researches all day - he thinks it might be a form of DID but he’s fine, really.  He eventually gets frustrated at himself and ends up losing himself in work until he can ignore it again.  (He also thinks he’s probably just stressed and overreacting.  Maybe a touch of OCD and hypochondria mixing in a bad way.)

Unpopular opinion: I think that Tim should probably be shelved in the Nu52.  From the complaints I’m hearing and what I have read the authors can’t write him.  It would be better to shelve him than to have them continue to warp a character we love so dearly.

There are colourful streamers, balloons and glitter scattered haphazardly throughout the cave system.  It’s odd, but perhaps Ra’s can get used to it.  Once a year.

“Perhaps Timothy did have a point.”

Talia looks at him then with a raised eyebrow.  “I had wondered why you suddenly allowed your ninja to throw a party.”

“I have not ‘been keeping my ninja happy’, according to Timothy,” Ra’s smiles.  “He spoils them and frankly I would imagine some answer more to him than to myself.”

Talia glances at the banner proclaiming the party in honour of ‘Master Timothy’.  “Perhaps you should endeavour to kill less of them as well.”

A thoughtful look flitters onto Ra’s face.  “I will add that to my notes.”  Ra’s begins to leave the party, setting down his drink on a passing tray.  “And father?”

“Yes Talia?”

“I believe they are also making plans to have Timothy join the family.”

The ninjas all pause as Ra’s laughter echoes through the party.

⚡ At age 8, Tim ran away for four days. When no one noticed, he returned home without a fuss.

“Tim Drake, huh? Name sounds familiar.”

Tim may have been tired and hungry but he wasn’t about to blurt out “Cause you live next to me.”

This wasn’t Jason Todd, newest ward of Bruce Wayne. This was Robin. Robin and Batman lived…in the night or something. Tim was too hungry and tired to think straight. 

The current Robin was hanging upside-down off of a fire escape ladder and crossing his arms at Tim. Jason had found him in one of the alleyways and sniffling under one of his father’s heavy wool coats that he had stolen before running away from home. 

That had been four days prior and Tim had run out of pop tarts and still no one had come for him. Or even tried to contact him. He still had his phone. 

No missed calls. 

No missing at all. 

No one missed Tim. 

He shouldn’t have been that surprised. No one even looked for him when he was late coming home from school. 

“The Drake family, right? Your folks aren’t looking for you?”

Tim shrugged but didn’t say anything. He wrapped the coat closer and tried to huddle into the warmth. 

Jason’s face softened. He reached out and ruffled the little boy’s hair. “Come on, Timmy.” He whispered. “I got to meet the Big Bat soon but how about you let me take you home?”

Janet flexed her hands, and balled them into fists. Once, twice. It had been three days, sixteen hours since Tim had snuck out with one of his father’s winter coats and backpack full of food from the pantry.

Tim was eight. He was a clever boy, resourceful enough to get himself out whatever situation he found himself in. He’d be fine. Absolutely fine.

Now if only she could make herself believe that.

Janet stood for the fourth time that hour, pushing away from her desk to pace in agitation. Three days, sixteen hours, forty two minutes. She’d sworn she wouldn’t be her father, demanding Tim account for every minute of his time and justify every choice he made. But no one had told her it would be this hard to wait and trust she’d taught him well enough.

Three days, seventeen hours, and Tim’s bedroom creaked open. Her son crept out, looking tired, hungry, worn. He must have climbed up the oak tree next to the house.

Janet had to grip the frame of her office’s door to keep from pouncing and demanding he tell her where he went and what he’d done. If Tim wanted to share, he would. Until then, her son had a right to privacy.

“Good evening, Tim,” she restrained herself to saying, and squeezed his shoulder briefly. “Are you joining your father and I for dinner?”

(though really I just whined at it and rolled over myself).  Thank you so much and I hope you all enjoy it.  Ra’s is more of a classy creep in this than he was when I started.  (But seriously, at the very beginning he was actually stroking a drugged out Tim.)
